Botanical Name: Citrus Limonum
Important Information: Originially from India this evergreen grows up to 6 metres tall & has dark green serrated oval leaves with pink/white flowers which are heavily perfumed. The plant has spines & the fruit becomes yellow when it is ripe.
The name of this fruit is derived from the Arabic 'laimun' or the Persian 'limun'. The tree was brought to Europe by the crusaders during the middle ages & the fruit contains Vitamins A, B & C. An ounce a day was given to sailors to prevent scurvy & other vitamin deficiencies.
Active Ingredients: Often found in Lemon Essential Oil are a-pinene, camphene, b-pinene, sabinene, myrcene, a-terpinene, linalool, b-bisabolene, limonene, trans-a-bergamotene, nerol & neral. Lemon is a fresh & vivid scent which is thought to improve concentration, to help the symptoms of arthritis, rheumatism & gout as well as to help treat boils & acne.
Mixes well with: The oils of Lavender, Rose, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Fennel, Juniper & Neroli.
