Important Information: Japanese Peppermint is well know because of its level of menthol. It's so high that sometimes crystals of menthol form right on the leaves. The foliage of this hardy perennial secretes a strong mint smell that is often detectable before the plant is found. This plant can grow up to 1 metre tall & propagates due to its subterranean root system.
Active Ingredients: The oil of the Japanese Peppermint typically contains more than 85% menthol & is thought to give a refreshing feeling while helping to heal bruises & joint pain. It is also thought that Peppermint is good for the nervous system & can act as a body regulator. The anti-bacterial & anti-septic properties of Peppermint are also well known & some people use it in mouth wash & to treat swollen gums, mouth ulcers & toothaches.
Mixes well with: The oils of Benzoin, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Marjoram, Lemon & Rosemary.
